The School District of Beloit is asking the community to approve a referendum to ensure Beloit's kids, teachers, and schools have the resources they need to thrive. Right now, SDB, like districts across Wisconsin, is facing a funding gap that is directly related to the state education funding system. This referendum would authorize $9 million in funding for each of the next three years by increasing the property tax mill rate to $6.11, still below most Rock County districts. Referendum funds would help maintain course offerings and class sizes, support special education, maintain vital district facilities, and fairly compensate educators throughout Beloit's local schools. Beloit's students and staff are worth it. Voting "YES" is the progressive choice.
