Ronnie Peterson is an incumbent running for his third term in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 54th District. Peterson currently sits on the Committee of Appropriations, Appropriation Subcommittee of Military, Veterans and State Police, as well as serving as the Democratic Vice Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittees on LARA and DIFS, and Transportation. Peterson has served the public for almost 40 years as an Ypsilanti City Council member, Washtenaw County Commissioner, and has sat on numerous boards of charitable organizations.
Peterson’s priorities include improving public education across the state and supporting technical skills jobs, protecting retirement and seniors from pension taxation, and fighting for a more transparent and accountable government. Peterson is also battling to invest in public transportation and reduce carbon emissions to help fight the climate crisis and keep Michigan’s environment clean.
Peterson is endorsed by five of our partner organizations including the Michigan Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, Michigan AFL-CIO, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan.
Peterson is running against Martin Church. While we didn't see endorsements for Church from organizations that concern us, they also don't have the support of any of our partner organizations and therefore we cannot recommend them.
Peterson is the most progressive choice in this race.

Joe Biden
Joseph R. Biden, Jr. is the Democratic candidate for President of the United States. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden has a long career in public service, most notably serving as Vice President alongside President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2016.
Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack and Elizabeth Welch are our recommendations for the Michigan Supreme Court. Both candidates will protect our civil rights while ensuring justice for all.
The Michigan Supreme Court race appears on the non-partisan section of the ballot, but McCormack and Welch were nominated by the Michigan Democratic Party. Be sure to turn your ballot over and do not leave this important race blank.
