Laurie Pohutsky is an incumbent seeking re-election for her second term in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 19th District. She is a graduate of Michigan State University where she volunteered with the Listening Ear Crisis Center, the oldest all-volunteer crisis center in the United States. After moving back to the Metro Detroit area, she joined the Livonia Democratic Club and often attends grassroots events.
Pothutsky’s priorities include fighting for state-funded Medicare for All, expanding the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, repairing Michigan’s roads, co-sponsoring Polluter Pay legislation, protecting and cleaning our water, supporting reproductive justice, and creating programs that provide healthcare for seniors.
Pohutsky is endorsed by eight of our partner organizations including Michigan Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, Michigan AFL-CIO, Clean Water Action, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, and Between the Lines.
Pohutsky is running against Martha Ptashnik. We do not recommend Ptashnik because of her endorsements from Right to Life and the DeVos-connected Great Lakes Education Project.
Pohutsky is the most progressive choice in this race.

Joe Biden
Joseph R. Biden, Jr. is the Democratic candidate for President of the United States. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden has a long career in public service, most notably serving as Vice President alongside President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2016.
Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack and Elizabeth Welch are our recommendations for the Michigan Supreme Court. Both candidates will protect our civil rights while ensuring justice for all.
The Michigan Supreme Court race appears on the non-partisan section of the ballot, but McCormack and Welch were nominated by the Michigan Democratic Party. Be sure to turn your ballot over and do not leave this important race blank.
