Denise Forrest is running for the Michigan House of Representatives in the 44th District. Currently, Forrest is a member of the Michigan Education Association, the National Education Association, and she previously served as president of the Huron Valley Education Association from 2014-2018. She is also an elected member of the Huron Valley School’s Board Secretary, Committee Chair of Teaching, Learning and Technology, and a member of the Finance Committee.
Forrest’s priorities while in office would be to fully fund our public schools and combat any effort by Betsy DeVos to divert that money to private institutions. Forrest also wants to ensure that our drinking water and recreational areas are free of dangerous pollutants, support prevailing wage workers and repeal right-to-work laws, as well as make healthcare accessible to anyone who needs it and fight for sick leave policies.
Forrest is endorsed by four of our partner organizations including the American Federation of Teachers, Michigan AFL-CIO, Sierra Club, and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan.
Forrest is running against Matt Maddock, an incumbent. We do not recommend voting for Maddock because of his far right-wing views and outspoken support for President Donald Trump. He has garnered a reputation as one of the most hard-line conservatives in the legislature. He is endorsed by the anti-choice organization Right to Life and by the DeVos-connected Great Lakes Education Project.
Forrest is the most progressive choice in this race.

Joe Biden
Joseph R. Biden, Jr. is the Democratic candidate for President of the United States. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden has a long career in public service, most notably serving as Vice President alongside President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2016.
Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack and Elizabeth Welch are our recommendations for the Michigan Supreme Court. Both candidates will protect our civil rights while ensuring justice for all.
The Michigan Supreme Court race appears on the non-partisan section of the ballot, but McCormack and Welch were nominated by the Michigan Democratic Party. Be sure to turn your ballot over and do not leave this important race blank.
