Elect Cynthia Rodriguez to push Yolo County in the right direction.
The Position
Each of the 58 counties in California elects a district attorney to manage the prosecution of criminal offenses related to the violation of state and county laws. The district attorney has investigative authority, manages the apprehension of individuals identified through the investigative process, and holds charging and prosecutorial power. The work of the district attorney includes municipal and superior court operations, and serving as a legal liaison to the grand jury. The county board of supervisors provides financial oversight to the district attorney’s office, but holds no operational power over their work. District attorneys are elected to four-year terms in office.
The District

Rodriguez has been a licensed attorney for over 40 years. During her career, she has served as a prosecutor and a public defender for the Department of Corrections, and general counsel and deputy director of Forensic Services with the California Department of Mental Health. In these roles, she has managed cases, teams, and budgets, and has advised on legal matters up to the Governor’s Office. As the parent of a deaf child, she is a longtime advocate for people with disabilities, and has offered pro bono legal services to people with disabilities throughout her career. These professional experiences have led Rodriguez to a platform focused on the intersection of public safety, criminal-justice reform, and transparency. As district attorney, she would aim to improve transparency with the public to create a system of accountability that strengthens equal justice for all residents.
Cynthia Rodriguez is endorsed by many progressive groups, including Smart Justice California, SEIU 2015, Indivisible Yolo, and Yolo People Power.
