Vote YES for Affordable Housing
-
With an affordable housing crisis on top of a global pandemic, we need all the tools available to secure safe and affordable housing for all. King County Charter Amendment 2 allows the county to lease, sell, or convey property for less than full market value if the property will be used for affordable housing. This would allow the county, for example, to work with nonprofits to build long-term affordable housing.
A housing-first approach gives people a permanent place to live with rent that they can afford so that they can work on health issues, employment, education, and more. The amendment gives the county room to provide stability and save lives. Young people deserve accurate information to help them make good decisions, to protect themselves, and to protect their futures. But today, too many students don’t receive high-quality, inclusive, medically accurate education about sex and healthy relationships, putting them at risk of sexual assault, unintended pregnancies, and sexually transmitted infections. In particular, students of color are more likely to receive incomplete or incorrect sex education.
