Dan Williams is the Democratic candidate for the Pennsylvania State House seat in the 74th legislative district. Williams is a former UPS supervisor and Teamster member. He’s also been a pastor and community leader for twenty-five years. One of his many accomplishments before taking office was his facilitation of a “Guns for Amnesty” program, which allowed people in his community to relinquish illegally-owned firearms without fear of legal trouble.
Williams’s campaign has been endorsed by many unions and progressive organizations and his 2018 run was endorsed by former president Barack Obama. During his first term in office, Williams has consistently stayed true to progressive values. He voted against legislation which allows school security guards to make arrests. Williams also voted against granting billions of dollars in tax subsidies to manufacturers that rely on fracked natural gas. He also voted against Republican attempts to eliminate the General Assistance, the largest anti-poverty program in the state. During the pandemic, Dan Williams voted to provide protective gear, testing, hazard pay, family leave, and preserve disaster declarations put in place to protect Pennsylvanians, even as Republicans almost unanimously voted against all of these measures.
Williams is facing Republican opponent Dale Hensel. Hensel has no issue stances publicly available.
Dan Williams is the clear progressive choice in this race.Dan Williams
