Shadia Martini is a Democrat running for the Michigan House of Representatives for the 54th District. Martini immigrated to the United States in 1992 after receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Aleppo. She received her Master's of Business Administration from the University of Michigan in 1996 and now owns and operates several businesses in southeast Michigan. Martini is a human rights activist and volunteer aiding Syrian refugees for over a decade.
Martini’s priorities include working to increase the competitiveness of Michigan’s economy, pass common sense gun violence prevention legislation, and updating Michigan’s roads and bridges. She believes abortion is a human right and that prescriptions and health care should be affordable. Martini will also fight for cleaner air and water and work to protect the right to vote.
Martini is endorsed by four of our partners: Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, American Federation of Teachers Michigan, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, and Equality Michigan.
Martini is running against Republican Donni Steele. Steele is endorsed by the DeVos-backed organizations Michigan Freedom Fund and Great Lakes Education Project, and the anti-reproductive rights organization Right to Life Michigan.
Shadia Martini is the most progressive choice in this race.

Gretchen Whitmer and Garlin Gilchrist II
This year Michigan voters will elect a governor and we recommend re-electing Governor Gretchen Whitmer. In her four years as Michigan’s governor, Gov. Whitmer has repeatedly proven herself as a fierce advocate for people across the state.
