Dylan Wegela is a Democrat running for the Michigan House of Representatives for the 26th District. Wegela grew up in Southeast Michigan in a working class family and has spent the last seven years working as a teacher, union organizer, and activist. He taught history in South Korea, Arizona, and Michigan and was a part of the 2018 #RedforED movement in Arizona that returned $400 million to Arizona’s state education budget.
Wegela’s priorities include fighting against wealth inequality and fighting for public schools. Wegela will work to increase education funding, end the teacher shortage, and increase the number of social workers and mental health professionals in schools. He will fight to increase the minimum wage, support Medicare for All state legislation, fund elder abuse prevention programs, and create good-paying union jobs by investing in green energy while enacting polluter pay laws to hold corporations accountable. Wegela will also advocate for common sense gun violence prevention measures and protect reproductive rights.
Wegela is endorsed by five of our partners: Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, Michigan AFL-CIO, American Federation of Teachers Michigan, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, and Michigan Education Association.
Wegela is running against Republican James Townsend.
Dylan Wegela is the most progressive choice in this race.

Gretchen Whitmer and Garlin Gilchrist II
This year Michigan voters will elect a governor and we recommend re-electing Governor Gretchen Whitmer. In her four years as Michigan’s governor, Gov. Whitmer has repeatedly proven herself as a fierce advocate for people across the state.
