Richard Steenland is running for the Michigan House of Representatives for the first time in the 22nd District. He has served on the Roseville City Council since 1993. In 2005, he was elected Mayor Pro-Tem and in 2007 became the City Clerk of Roseville, where his family has resided since the 1920s.
Steeland’s top priorities if elected include fighting for affordable healthcare, repairing the roads and other infrastructure, lowering auto insurance rates, and investing in public schools and universities. He also believes in repealing the pension tax on seniors, repealing right-to-work laws, improving mental health and substance abuse programs, and protecting the Great Lakes.
Steenland has been endorsed by six of our partner organizations including Michigan Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, Michigan AFL-CIO, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Sierra Club, and Between the Lines.
Steenland is running against Steven Warner. While we didn't see endorsements for Warner from organizations that concern us, they also don't have the support of any of our partner organizations and therefore we cannot recommend them.
Steenland is the most progressive choice in this race.

Joe Biden
Joseph R. Biden, Jr. is the Democratic candidate for President of the United States. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden has a long career in public service, most notably serving as Vice President alongside President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2016.
Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack and Elizabeth Welch are our recommendations for the Michigan Supreme Court. Both candidates will protect our civil rights while ensuring justice for all.
The Michigan Supreme Court race appears on the non-partisan section of the ballot, but McCormack and Welch were nominated by the Michigan Democratic Party. Be sure to turn your ballot over and do not leave this important race blank.
