John Zang is running for the Michigan House of Representatives in the 99th District. Zang previously worked for more than 30 years in many managerial positions in the auto industry and later managed a wastewater treatment consortium. Zang then became the Director of Public Works for Mt. Pleasant overseeing the Streets Department, the Water Department, the Waste Water Department, the Airport and City Engineering.
Zang’s priorities include stopping the divergence of taxpayers’ money to for-profit charter schools and instead fund public schools, tightening environmental protections to ensure our land and water are safe and clean, focusing on fixing our infrastructure, and promoting common-sense gun legislation like Red-Flag laws and Child Access Prevention Laws.
Zang is endorsed by three of our partner organizations including the American Federation of Teachers, Michigan AFL-CIO, and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan.
Zang is challenging incumbent Roger Hauck who is endorsed by the anti-choice organization Right to Life and by the DeVos-connected Great Lakes Education Project.
Zang is the most progressive candidate in this race.

The Michigan Supreme Court race appears on the non-partisan section of the ballot, but McCormack and Welch were nominated by the Michigan Democratic Party. Be sure to turn your ballot over and do not leave this important race blank.
