Nate Shannon is an incumbent running for re-election for his second term in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 25th District. Before becoming a representative, Shannon earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science from Oakland University and a Master’s in education from Wayne State University. He was also a public school teacher for 10 years and served on the Sterling Heights City Council.
Shannon’s priorities and past co-sponsorship on bills include fighting to make healthcare accessible to Michiganders, creating infrastructure that’s useful to fix the roads and get rural Michiganders broadband internet, requiring corporations to pay up when they pollute our water or our air, investing in job training and community college affordability, and encouraging employers to keep jobs in the state.
Shannon is endorsed by seven of our partner organizations including Michigan Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, Michigan AFL-CIO, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, and Between the Lines.
Shannon is running against Paul Smith. While we didn't see endorsements for Smith from organizations that concern us, he also doesn't have the support of any of our partner organizations. He’s also voiced conservative anti-tax talking points in the press, therefore we cannot recommend them.
Shannon is the most progressive choice in this race.

Joe Biden
Joseph R. Biden, Jr. is the Democratic candidate for President of the United States. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden has a long career in public service, most notably serving as Vice President alongside President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2016.
Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack and Elizabeth Welch are our recommendations for the Michigan Supreme Court. Both candidates will protect our civil rights while ensuring justice for all.
The Michigan Supreme Court race appears on the non-partisan section of the ballot, but McCormack and Welch were nominated by the Michigan Democratic Party. Be sure to turn your ballot over and do not leave this important race blank.
