Brenda Carter is an incumbent running for her second term to the Michigan House of Representatives in the 29th District. Carter has an extensive history that includes serving on many boards, including the Pontiac School District Board of Education, Michigan Association of School Board of Directors, and the Council of Urban Boards of Education. She’s the recipient of awards including the Michigan Chronicle’s Woman of Excellence (2015). She also co-founded the now-historic Million Woman March.
Carter’s priorities after re-election include securing funding for local roads, increasing the minimum wage, promoting equitable funding for all school districts and also promoting skilled trades. She is also fighting for government transparency and stricter lobbying rules, air and water quality, and supporting union protected jobs.
Carter is endorsed by seven of our partner organizations including Michigan Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, Michigan AFL-CIO, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, and Between the Lines.
Carter is running against Dave Sullivan. While we didn't see endorsements for Sullivan from organizations that concern us, they also don't have the support of any of our partner organizations and therefore we cannot recommend them.
Carter is the most progressive choice for this race.

Joe Biden
Joseph R. Biden, Jr. is the Democratic candidate for President of the United States. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden has a long career in public service, most notably serving as Vice President alongside President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2016.
Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack and Elizabeth Welch are our recommendations for the Michigan Supreme Court. Both candidates will protect our civil rights while ensuring justice for all.
The Michigan Supreme Court race appears on the non-partisan section of the ballot, but McCormack and Welch were nominated by the Michigan Democratic Party. Be sure to turn your ballot over and do not leave this important race blank.
