Governance, community leadership experience, and background: Dom Jones was a candidate for the CD-47 seat being vacated by Rep. Katie Porter, but withdrew from that race to run for AD-72.
Jones is a local small-business owner and activist. She co-founded the non-profits DemocraShe and You Matter Global Movement, and has contributed to initiatives intended to create more equity and representation in local leadership. She has established herself as a local leader through membership with the Democratic Party of Orange County’s Central Committee and the United Nations Association’s Orange County Chapter. Jones has owned a cycling and fitness studio for six years, and has worked as a local educator with special needs students. Jones is from Compton.

Primary election: There are two candidates running in the March 5 primary, including Dom Jones (D), and incumbent Assm. Diane Dixon (R). The top two vote recipients will advance to the general election on November 5.
Candidate fundraising and pledges: Jones’s campaign has not filed any campaign fundraising receipts with the Secretary of State’s office as of December 2023.
