    Vote YES for Vashon schools

  • The Vashon Island School District is putting forth Proposition #1, a four-year, $950,000 average Replacement of the Expiring Technology and Facilities Capital Projects Levy. After February's school bond failed to receive the amount of votes needed, Vashon students need this levy more than ever. If approved, the levy will help with major technology improvements and building upgrades so our kids don't get left behind in today's 21st century international economy. The levy rate is about $.37 per $1,000 of assessed value on your property tax. Vote YES for Vashon schools.

Vote YES for SE King County Emergency Services

  • When a loved one is having a heart attack, the last thing to be worrying about is whether the firefighters and ambulance services have enough funding to arrive quickly. King County Fire District #28 - serving Enumclaw and surrounding unincorporated areas - is putting forth Proposition 1 to keep up with growing demand for emergency services. Currently, only three firefighters are responsible for 20,000 people across 50 square miles in Southeast King County. As a result, 328 emergency responses were delayed or outsourced to another area last year alone. Proposition 1 would increase the levy to $1.50 per $1,000 of property value in order to add a fourth firefighter on call 24/7. If the levy fails, the fire district would be forced to reduce 24/7 staffing levels to 2 firefighters, significantly less than what's necessary to protect such a large service area. Vote YES to give our local firefighters the support they need to keep us safe.

Vote YES for an Eastside Regional Fire Authority

  • Two neighboring fire districts in East King County are seeking to merge into one Fire Authority to become more efficient and maintain emergency service levels. The primary goal of merging is to save money by sharing fixed costs through a Fire Authority covering Carnation and unincorporated areas around North Bend and Snoqualmie, rather than duplicating them in each district. The total levy rate for the new district would be approximately $1.49 per $1,000 of property value - a small increase for residents of District 38 and a small decrease for residents of District 10. Vote YES to allow local firefighters to save money and maintain strong levels of emergency services.

Vote YES to Maintain Emergency Services

  • We need to ensure firefighters have the tools they need so everyone can stay safe. Duvall is seeking a four-year renewal of the existing Maintenance and Operations Levy to provide $750,000 per year for emergency medical services. Voters approved the previous levy in 2012, which will expire at the end of the year. Renewing this levy at the existing level would cost the owner of a $350,000 home approximately $130 per year. If the levy is not renewed, firefighter staffing levels would be cut and emergency response times would increase.
