Derek Kilmer is a moderate Democrat who is a reliable supporter of creating jobs and improving infrastructure. He has been a leader on small business development and protecting Puget Sound during his first term. A former State Senator, he worked as a business consultant and economic development official before becoming a legislator. Kilmer is being challenged by conservative Republican Marty McClendon, whom he soundly defeated in a 2010 state Senate race, and Green Party candidate Douglas Milholland. Milholland is running on a campaign of environmentalism and nonviolence. Kilmer’s experience and ability to work across the aisle on behalf of the district make him the best choice in this race.Last updated: 2023-04-05

Representative Sherry Appleton is a strong, reliable progressive who has earned your vote. She has been a leader in health care and transportation issues. Appleton successfully fought cuts to ferry funding, ensured digital mammograms and family planning services remain accessible to low-income women, and supported investments in capital projects to create jobs in Kitsap County. Representative Drew Hansen has been a solid leader in the legislature. As a dad with two young kids, Hansen has been passionate about school funding since before he was elected. He has fought for all-day Kindergarten and co-sponsored legislation to help non-traditional high school students down a promising career path. Hansen has also been a champion of jobs in his district, including his sponsorship of a bill that helps train residents for careers as firefighters. His opponent is conservative James Olsen, a far-right Tea Party candidate who does not support women's private pregnancy decisions. Drew Hansen is the clear choice in this race.Last updated: 2023-04-05

Irene Bowling is a Bremerton native, teacher, and small business owner challenging conservative Democrat Tim Sheldon. Bowling is a community leader with strong education credentials who will bring a much needed commitment to accountability to the seat, especially around education and the budget. Sheldon has been a consistent obstacle to progress for 22 years. He has voted to cut funding for public schools and blocked progress on issues ranging from women’s health and protecting the environment to marriage equality and transportation. Sheldon holds two elected offices at the same time so he can collect two public salaries (he serves as a Mason County Commissioner as well as a state Senator). In 2012, he switched sides to give control of the Senate to extremely conservative Republicans. A third candidate, Tea Party conservative Travis Couture, is also running against Sheldon from the extreme right. Bowling is the clear choice in this race.Last updated: 2023-04-05
