  • Tana Senn is a newcomer to the House after longtime representative Marcie Maxwell stepped down. Senn, a former Mercer Island Councilmember, was appointed to the state Legislature in 2013 by a unanimous vote of the Republicans and Democrats on the King County Council. Senn has been a strong education advocate and sponsored a bill to help low-income students access early learning programs. As the vice chair of the House Environment Committee, Senn also supported legislation to protect our communities from the increasing amount of oil transported across the state as well as ending the use of toxics in baby pads and household furniture. Senn's opponent, Bill Stinson, is a 20-year-old sophomore political science major at the University of Washington who worked on the Ron Paul campaign in 2012. Unlike Paul, Stinson considers himself both pro-choice and pro-LGBTQ equality. While Stinson offers some excitement for the future of the Republican Party, Senn's experience and bipartisan support make her the best choice in this race.
