The Wisconsin Progressive Voters Guide compiles the information that allows you to make informed decisions about the races on your ballot, based on your values. Absentee ballots must be received by your municipal clerk by Tuesday, November 5 at 8PM. Vote in every race on your ballot, then share this guide with your friends and family!

State Senate

Depending on where you live, you may have one of the below State Senate races on your ballot.

State Senator, District 12

Former construction company owner and current insurance adjuster Andi Rich is a strong believer in environmental protection, citing PFAS remediation and clean water as major issues for her as she campaigns to defeat Republican incumbent Mary Felzkowski. Rich also believes in supporting strong public schools, ending partisan gridlock in Madison, and decreasing taxpayer spending. While Rich ran as a Republican in the 89th Assembly District’s 2020 primary against John Nygren to combat his inaction on PFAS issues, she is running as a Democrat in 2024, and she is the more progressive choice in this race.

Collin McNamara believes Central Wisconsin, where he was born and raised, holds strong values of honesty and integrity that need to be represented in the State Senate. McNamara is interested in improving the region’s infrastructure, increasing accessibility to affordable healthcare, and keeping local communities safe. McNamara’s opponent is Senator Patrick Testin, who has been endorsed by an extreme right wing group that wants to ban abortion without exception, even when the pregnant person's life is at risk. Collin McNamara is the progressive choice in this race.

Wisconsin native and Merrill resident Elizabeth McCrank believes the voices of people in the 35th district deserve to be heard in Madison. McCrank has career experience as a carpenter and finisher in light construction, a teacher in adult education, and a librarian at the T.B. Scott Free Library in Merrill. She has also served on the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors since 2020. McCrank plans to focus on the needs of children and seniors if elected, and believes in the right to choose an abortion. She is also concerned about rural population decline, and the local climate for new businesses. McCrank is running against Republican Representative Calvin Callahan, who has previously been endorsed by two of Wisconsin’s most extreme anti-abortion organizations. Elizabeth McCrank is the progressive choice in this race.

Roger Halls is a 20-year resident of northwest Wisconsin, and a Bronze Star Army veteran. Halls has served on the Stanley City Council and has been active in the community with Big Brothers Big Sisters and other charitable organizations. He is running for Assembly to lead by example and work for what is best for fellow Wisconsinites. Halls believes in the right to choose an abortion and that the wealthy should be paying their fair share of taxes. He’s also passionate about the necessity of quality, accessible healthcare, including mental healthcare, for all. Halls is running against Republican Representative Karen Hurd, who has been endorsed by radical anti-abortion groups aiming to outlaw the procedure in Wisconsin. Roger Halls is the progressive choice in this race.

Xiong is committed to growing the economy in the 85th Assembly District to make it a desirable place to live, work, and raise a family. He also supports fully funding victim support organizations, investing in quality public schools, and ensuring public safety departments have the resources they need to serve their communities. Xiong is running against Republican Representative Patrick Snyder, who has been endorsed by an extreme anti-abortion group aiming to ban all legal abortion in Wisconsin. Xiong is the progressive choice in this race.

Also running is Republican candidate Brent Jacobson, who is aligned with one of Wisconsin’s most extreme anti-abortion organizations. William Switalla is the more progressive choice in this race.
