State Senate

Depending on where you live, you may have one of the below State Senate races on your ballot.

  • Elder rights attorney, dispute resolution specialist, and former Planned Parenthood advocate Andrea Gage-Michaels is an experienced public policy leader who is running to represent the 1st Senate District. Gage-Michaels promises to fight for improved access to healthcare particularly for women, stand up for reproductive rights, expand broadband access for all, and provide adequate funding for public schools. She will work to ensure every community in Northeast Wisconsin has clean water and to bring jobs and resources back into our communities. She is challenging Republican Andre Jacque, who is one of the most extreme and prolific authors of anti-choice bills in the state legislature and authored a bill censoring educators from providing accurate, honest, factual information to students about events like the Civil War and the Civil Rights movement. Jacque is endorsed by a group that wants to ban abortion without exception, even when the pregnant person's life is at risk, and also signed a January 2021 letter asking then-Vice President Pence to refuse to certify the 2020 presidential election results. Gage-Michaels is the progressive choice in this race.

  • A longtime advocate and volunteer who serves on Appleton's Common Council, Kristin Alfheim is running for Senate because she believes everyone deserves a fair chance to succeed. Alfheim's top priorities include ensuring that all kids get a solid, well-rounded education in Wisconsin, that residents have good paying jobs, that environmental policy decisions are based on science and lead to carbon neutrality by 2050, and that large corporations pay their fair share in taxes. Raised on a beef farm, Alfheim knows the value of hard work, problem-solving, and good communication, and she brings these values to her volunteer work with nonprofit groups like the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Wisconsin. Alfheim's opponent is freshman Republican state legislator Rachael Cabral-Guevara, who is endorsed by an extreme right wing group that supports Wisconsin's criminal abortion ban, which prohibits abortion even in cases of rape or incest. Alfeim is the progressive choice in this race.

State Assembly

Depending on where you live, you may have one of the below State Assembly races on your ballot.

No Good Choices

Incumbent Ron Tusler has cast consistently anti-healthcare, anti-public education, anti-worker, and anti-middle class votes. After the 2020 presidential election, Tusler orchestrated a key informational hearing that helped fuel the Big Lie in Wisconsin and paved the way for Speaker Robin Vos to waste $1 million taxpayer dollars on Michael Gableman's partisan, conspiracy-driven political witchhunt. Tusler is also endorsed by a right wing group that wants to outlaw abortion, and has consistently supported legislation that limits access to reproductive care. There is no progressive choice in this race.
