LPAC

LPAC is the only organization whose mission is to elect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer women and nonbinary people. LPAC was founded in 2012 by a group of LGBTQ women seeking to create a place, and voice, at the power table for our community. We do this by endorsing and investing in candidates directly and supporting them through independent expenditure campaigns. We’ve raised more than $6.3 million and endorsed more than 150 candidates. And we’re just getting started.

State Senate

Depending on where you live, you may have one of the below State Senate races on your ballot.

  • Jessica Katzenmeyer is a former union member and LGBTQ activist who currently serves on the City of West Allis Plan Commission. Having spent many years as an active member and leader in Teamsters Local 344, Katzenmeyer believes wholeheartedly that by working together, people can make the world a better place. Katzenmeyer's top priority is fixing our healthcare system by expanding BadgerCare, protecting people who have pre-existing conditions, and lowering the cost of prescription drugs. Katzenmeyer also lists supporting Wisconsin public schools, strengthening workers' rights, legalizing cannabis, and investing in infrastructure and clean energy as important goals to keep Wisconsin moving foward. If elected, Katzenmeyer will be the first out trans woman elected to the Wisconsin state legislature. Her opponent is Republican Rob Hutton, a conservative former state Assembly representative who lost his seat in 2020 and who is endorsed by an extreme right wing group that wants to ban abortion without exception, even when the pregnant person's life is at risk. Katzenmeyer is the progressive choice in this race.

  • A longtime advocate and volunteer who serves on Appleton's Common Council, Kristin Alfheim is running for Senate because she believes everyone deserves a fair chance to succeed. Alfheim's top priorities include ensuring that all kids get a solid, well-rounded education in Wisconsin, that residents have good paying jobs, that environmental policy decisions are based on science and lead to carbon neutrality by 2050, and that large corporations pay their fair share in taxes. Raised on a beef farm, Alfheim knows the value of hard work, problem-solving, and good communication, and she brings these values to her volunteer work with nonprofit groups like the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Wisconsin. Alfheim's opponent is freshman Republican state legislator Rachael Cabral-Guevara, who is endorsed by an extreme right wing group that supports Wisconsin's criminal abortion ban, which prohibits abortion even in cases of rape or incest. Alfeim is the progressive choice in this race.
