Senator Lena Taylor has been a reliably progressive voice in the state legislature over three terms in her seat. On issues such as funding public education, reproductive justice, and workers' rights, Taylor has been a consistent progressive voice. Taylor has also been an effective legislator, passing more than 100 bills. She is running unopposed.

Former small business owner and union leader LaTonya Johnson is running for re-election to her second term in the State Senate. Johnson has been an advocate for working and low-income families in the Senate. Her top priorities include criminal justice reform, economic development in her Northwest Milwaukee District, health care access, and early childhood education. Johnson is a hardworking legislator that represents her constituents well. Her opponent, Republican Alciro Deacon, is endorsed by Pro-Life Wisconsin and Wisconsin Right to Life. She is the progressive choice in this race.

Small business owner and substitute teacher Neal Plotkin is challenging longtime Senator Alberta Darling. Plotkin's priorities include fighting for fair legislative maps, investing in public schools, and improving public infrastructure. He has expressed his support for science based approaches to the COVID-19 pandemic, including Gov. Evers' mask mandate. His opponent, Alberta Darling, has been instrumental in suppressing progressive priorities as the powerful Co-Chair of the Joint Finance Committee. With her hold on the Wisconsin's purse strings, she has done the bidding of monied special interests. She has supported voter suppression, opposed Badgercare expansion, and declined to adequately fund for public schools. In her time as an elected official, she has become far more conservative on choice and gun violence prevention, following her party to the right. She is partially responsible for Republican inaction during the ongoing pandemic and called for the legislature to reconvene to strike down Governor Evers' mask mandate. Plotkin is the more progressive choice.

Entrepreneur Adam Murphy describes himself as moderate and practical. He favors non-partisan redistricting and separating insurance from employment while making health care a basic American right. He strives to be anti-racist and supports labor unions and collective bargaining. Murphy is running against former GOP Chairman Julian Bradley. Bradley is strongly anti-choice, supports strict voter ID, opposes common sense gun reforms, and believes that the state needs to roll back public health measures to slow the spread of COVID-19. Adam Murphy is the progressive choice in this race.

Daniel Riemer is running unopposed. Nevertheless, he is the progressive choice in this race. First elected to the Assembly in 2012, Riemer has been a vocal advocate for BadgerCare expansion and a science-based response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Milwaukee County Supervisor and former small business owner Sylvia Ortiz-Velez is running on a relatively progressive platform. She supports increased funding for public transportation and infrastructure, legalizing medical marijuana, tackling the opioid crisis, and redrawing fair maps. Ortiz-Velez is also advocating for making drivers licenses accessible to undocumented people, expanding BadgerCare, and investing in public education. Her opponent, Republican candidate Angel Sanchez, was endorsed by Pro-Life Wisconsin.Ortiz-Velez is the progressive choice.

Incumbent Marisabel Cabrera is an immigration lawyer and former Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin Latino Caucus. She is an advocare for progressive values, including the fight for affordable health care and a living wage. She will stand up for the rights of marginalized communities and advocate for sustainable environmental policy.  Her opponent is Republican candidate Veronica Diaz. Cabrera is the progressive choice.

Assemblyman David Bowen is running unopposed. Nevertheless, he is the progressive choice. Bowen has been a mainstay of the Black Lives Matter protests and has been an organizer since before he became an elected official. He is a strong advocate for racial justice and violence prevention, among other progressive issues.

Dora Drake will be a progressive advocate for residents of the 11th Assembly District. In her professional life, Drake works to support people who are re-entering society. She has also emphasized adequate funding of re-entry services in her campaign. Her other priorities include investing in education to eliminate achievement gaps, ensuring workers are paid a living wage, and supporting small businesses and essential workers through the pandemic. Drake is facing Republican Orlando Owens. Drake is the progressive choice in this race.

Assemblywoman LaKeshia Myers is running for her second term as the Assembly Rep for the 12th District. The former educator prides herself on her constituent services and has worked towards lowering prescription drug prices and expanding opportunities for student teachers while serving in the Assembly. Improving healthcare, investing in education, and addressing gun violence are among the issues that she intends to continue fighting for. Her Republican opponent, Ozell Cox, is a strong supporter of taxpayer funded school vouchers and is anti-choice. Myers is the progressive choice in this race.

Nurse, Healthcare Executive, and former CDC Epidemic Intelligence Officer Sara Rodriguez is running for Assembly on a platform of making healthcare more affordable and accessible, adequately funding public schools, and managing the economic reopening safely. Rodriguez decided to run when she saw residents of her community forced to choose between voting and risking their health in the April election. Rodriguez is a public health expert who will put community health ahead of profit. Her opponent, incumbent Rob Hutton, lists taxpayer funded private school vouchers and shrinking state government among his top priorities. Hutton is also anti-choice. Rodriguez is the progressive choice.

Robyn Vining is running for her second term in the State Assembly. Vining lists affordable healthcare, gun sense legislation, and nonpartisan redistricting as among her top priorities. She has been a leader when it comes to COVID-19 response, introducing and advocating for the Healthcare Heroes Act, which would provide hazard pay, paid sick leave, and healthcare coverage to frontline healthcare workers. Her opponent, Bonnie Lee, is an advocate of taxpayer funded private school vouchers, gun rights proponent, and fiscal conservative. She has been endorsed by right wing politicians and groups such as Scott Walker, Wisconsin Right to Life, the NRA, and Americans for Prosperity Wisconsin. Robyn Vining is the more progressive choice.

Jessica Katzenmeyer is a labor leader, activist, and rideshare driver. If elected, she would be the first transgender Assembly Member in Wisconsin history. Her campaign is focused on reducing the cost of healthcare and ensuring that no Wisconsinite has to incur significant debt to access life-saving care. She is also an advocate for a livable wage and voting rights. Incumbent Joe Sanfelippo has pushed a "tough on crime" approach and worked to make reproductive healthcare more difficult to access. Jessica Katzenmeyer is the progressive choice in this race.

At 21, Kalan Haywood is among the youngest legislators in the country. He is running for re-election to his second term. In his first term, he introduced legislation on ballot access, affordable housing, property tax relief, and supporting small businesses. Haywood is running unopposed and is a progressive choice.

Supreme Moore Omokunde is a member of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. His top priorities are criminal justice reform, expanding healthcare access, affordable housing, and economic development. His opponent is Republican candidate Abie Eisenbach. Moore Omokunde is the progressive choice.

A former public defender and law professor, Evan Goyke has been an effective progressive on many issues in his time in the legislature. He has introduced multiple pieces of legislation on prison reform and other criminal justice reform issues. While ending mass incarceration is the issue he has been most active on, he is also an advocate for reinvesting in his community when it comes to healthcare, housing and education. Goyke does not have a Republican challenger. Nevertheless, he is a progressive choice.

Assemblyman Jonathan Brostoff, running for re-election to his 4th term as the 19th District's Assembly Representative, has been a committed progressive throughout his time in the legislature. His priorities are disability advocacy, Hmong rights, the rights of the incarcerated, public education, mental health care support, and Deaf and hard of hearing issues. Brostoff has also been a prominent supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement and has been a strong advocate for additional COVID relief. His opponent is Republican candidate Helmut Fritz. Brostoff is the progressive choice.

Assemblywoman Christine Sinicki has been serving in the legislature since 1999 and has been a progressive advocate on many occasions. Sinicki supports a woman's right to choose, public education, and raising the minimum wage. Sinicki is running unopposed and is the progressive choice.

South Milwaukee Mayor Erik Brooks is challenging Republican Assemblywoman Jessie Rodriguez. Brooks is running as a moderate with an emphasis on bipartisanship and practicality. His priorities include investing in public education, public health, and public safety while restoring local control. Although Brooks is a self-described moderate, his opponent, Assemblywoman Rodriguez, is a conservative school vouchers advocate. Brooks is the more progressive choice in this race.

Deb Andraca is a teacher and community volunteer who has been raising her family in the district for the past 17 years. Although Andraca has some previous political experience working at the Environmental Law and Policy Center in the 1990s, she became involved in local politics as a volunteer for Moms Demand Action and was inspired to run for Assembly when current Assembly member Jim Ott refused to support universal background checks. During her campaign, Andraca has been an advocate for action on climate change, BadgerCare expansion and public education. Her opponent, Assembly Member Jim Ott, is a reliable vote for just about anything that Republicans propose. Ott has supported every GOP budget, including Governor Walker’s infamous 2011 budget that slashed public education and healthcare. He does not believe that climate change is real, votes against reproductive choice, consistently favors corporate subsidies, including the Foxconn incentives, and votes against labor on every important issue. Deb Andraca is the progressive choice.

Joel Jacobsen is challenging Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos for the second time to improve access to healthcare, protect the environment, and lower the middle class tax burden. Jacobsen believes in Medicaid expansion, fully funding public schools, investing in technical colleges, and investing in renewable energy. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has been largely responsible for creating partisan gridlock in Madison. He is responsible for the laws passed in the 2018 lame duck session, the weakening of what once were landmark environmental protection regulations, the failure of the Assembly to respond adequately to the COVID-19 crisis and the resulting economic crisis, and much more. Jacobsen is the more progressive choice.

22 year old Jacob Malinowski is running for Assembly to be a more accessible and empathetic representative than he feels has been representing his hometown. His priorities for this term would be expanding the Wisconsin GI bill, covering more seniors on SeniorCare, reducing the gas tax, funding a mental health counselor for all school districts, and making technical college free for high school graduates. He also believes in a $15 per hour minimum wage, nonpartisan redistricting, and closing the Dark Store Loophole that shifts property taxes onto homeowners. His opponent, Ken Skowronski, opposes common sense gun violence prevention laws, is against a woman's right to choose, and in favor of taxpayer funded private school vouchers. Malinowski is the more progressive choice.
