Dr. Katherine Gaulke's first priority is affordable healthcare, achieved through the reduction of prescription drug prices and healthcare premiums. She has an extensive list of additional priorities, including curbing mass incarceration, legalizing marijuana, increasing funding for schools, particularly special education programs, enacting non-partisan redistricting, preventing gun violence, protecting reproductive healthcare, and achieving racial equity. Her opponent, Tyler August, is a conservative Republican who favors deregulation, shrinking government and stigmatizing welfare access through excessive barriers to access.
