Vote YES to equip our schools with the basic resources they need

South Kitsap relies on local levies to bridge the gap between what the state funds and what our students need to access a modern and safe education. South Kitsap School District Proposition 1 would authorize a replacement for the district’s Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) Levy, which is set to expire at the end of the year.

Without a renewal, our students, teachers, and support staff will lose the programs and resources they rely on for a high-quality, local education. Some budget items that depend on the levy include athletics programs, infrastructure maintenance, student buses and transportation, custodians, arts programs, instructional supplies, counselors, extracurricular activities, and special education services and staff.

This EP&O Levy renewal was approved recently by South Kitsap’s school board. If passed, the levy will cost homeowners $1.94 per $1,000 in assessed property value over the next four years. This means that the owner of a $500,000 home can expect to pay approximately $970 annually. The levy – which is estimated to generate around $30-60 million each year – accounts for 16% of the district’s budget.

Our entire community benefits from a strong school district that provides every student with high-quality curriculums, enriching programs, and safe, modern learning environments. Vote Yes on South Kitsap School District Proposition 1 to equip our students for the futures they deserve.
