We all benefit when our first responders have stable funding and are available in every community. Edmonds Proposition 1 would bring the city's emergency service needs under the purview of the South Snohomish County Fire & Rescue Regional Fire Authority, or South County Fire (SCF).
Currently, the City of Edmonds has a paid contract with SCF to provide emergency services, which expires in December. Rather than pursue a new contract, the Edmonds City Council decided that it would be more cost-effective to join SCF. If passed, Proposition 1 would maintain the existing source of emergency services and create stable funding for much-needed emergency response in the city. The Edmonds City Council believes that an annexation plan, rather than a contract extension, is the cheapest and most sustainable option for city residents to access life-saving crisis response.
Vote Yes on City of Edmonds Proposition 1 to create a stable funding source for the emergency services we all rely on.
