Other Candidates
Several other candidates are running for Tukwila City Council, Position 7.
Jane Ho has previously been involved in local civic activities and has previously run for an open council position. She is a first-generation Vietnamese-American with experience in community service. Ho is running a moderate-leaning campaign prioritizing public safety, affordable housing, economic growth, and the city's budget. Some of her solutions are favorable, such as increasing middle housing options and strengthening tenant protections. However, we would like to see her take a more progressive stand on some issues, like transportation and public safety.
Gina Bernhardt Nielsen is a Tukwila Parks Commissioner now running for city council. She is focused on improving affordable housing options, enhancing parks, expanding transit availability, and more. Although Gina Bernhardt Nielsen comes with decades of experience in city government, we still lean towards Krysteena Mann in this race as she is running the most progressive campaign.
Max McCallum is a Parking Enforcement Officer for Seattle and highlights his experience with living paycheck to paycheck and food insecurity. If elected, his priorities include improving public transit, expanding affordable housing, and supporting low-income residents. Max McCallum's care for his community is evident, however, we would like to see a more developed campaign from him to include specific policy proposals and solutions.
