Other Candidates
Morgan faces two challengers this year: Tim Monaghan and Brett Johnson. Democrat and Army veteran Monaghan has worked as a teacher in Pierce public schools as well as a park ranger. His platform does not include details about his policy positions or priorities, instead noting that he would provide "relentless elected stewardship" and bring together public and private partnerships to address the district's needs.
Republican Brett Johnson is an Air Force veteran and sawmill and furniture business owner who has also served on the Sound Transit Citizen Oversight Panel, among other roles. Johnson does not have much of a campaign platform publicly available but he lists addressing crime and jobs in local interviews as a campaign issue. Johnson, who also ran unsuccessfully last year against Kiara Daniels for Tacoma City Council, would not be a progressive voice in the Legislature.

There are two Democrats running for Congress in Washington’s 6th District with fairly different platforms and political philosophies: incumbent Derek Kilmer and challenger Rebecca Parson. We recommend Kilmer based on his track record of leadership and because he has earned far more endorsements from elected officials and our Progressive Voters Guide partner organizations.
