Marine Access Committee Chair and Bainbridge Island affordable housing advocate Anthony Oddo is running for Bainbridge City Council, Position 1. Oddo is a policy and program coordinator at Housing Resources Bainbridge, where he leads efforts to secure funding at the local and state levels for low- and moderate-income households. He formerly worked on budget analysis and optimization at the White House in the Water & Power Branch and at the Navy Pharmacy, among other positions. Oddo also serves as Vice President of the Bainbridge Ometepe Sister Islands Association, which is a shared friendship between the Washington state and Nicaraguan islands, developing schools and water projects. His campaign focuses on protecting water resources by ending the use of toxic herbicides and pesticides on the island, supporting the addition of a Complete Streets ordinance, which promotes safe and well-designed streets for all users, and completing the Suzuki project, which will bring additional affordable housing to the island.
Oddo is running against former mayor and current divorce lawyer Kirsten Hytopoulos. She served on the Bainbridge Island City Council from 2010 to 2013, where she helped lead the island’s single-use plastic bag ban. While on the council, she co-founded the Public Process in Land Use committee, and served on the Open Water Marina, Shoreline Master Program, and Tree Ordinance committees as well as on the Kitsap County Coordinating Council and at the Kitsap County Board of Health.
We lean slightly towards Oddo because of his endorsements by our partners.
