Ben Wick is an IT Manager at Spokane Industries, the owner of a local community newspaper, and a former 2011 city council member. Wick has been involved in a large number of community organizations, including as current chair of the Spokane Regional Transportation Council's Citizen Transportation Advisory Committee, as a Kiwanis Club member, and as a former Spokane County Fair Advisory Board Member. Wick is running on a platform of improving transparency on the council and upgrading infrastructure and roads.
Wick is running against Ed Pace, a deeply conservative member of the city council. Pace has been at the center of many of the city council’s most controversial initiatives from improperly firing the City Manager to the recent illegal proposal around vaccinations, transgender bathrooms, and nixing mandatory sexual education in public schools. While Wick is a fiscally conservative Republican, he is still much more moderate and forward-looking voice than Ed Pace.
