OneAmerica Votes is a membership organization with a mission to promote democracy and build power in immigrant and refugee communities by advocating for policies, developing leaders and electing candidates that strive for justice. All endorsed candidates have demonstrated leadership on issues that increase opportunities and improve the lives of immigrants, refugees and communities of color. OneAmerica Votes’ position on ballot measures and initiatives indicates whether an issue aligns with our values of strength in diversity; personal responsibility and shared accountability; and democracy and justice for all.

Jones most recently worked at Tacoma Public Schools and previously served as Assistant Superintendent of Student Achievement for the state of Washington, where she worked on policy and instruction practices to make school a vibrant learning place for all students. Jones' three kids attended Washington public schools and her husband is also a public school teacher.

Stonier is a moderate Democrat from a military family who passed more bills than any other legislator during her first session in Olympia, and was a champion for public education and protecting women's health. Unfortunately, her voting record on raising revenue has disappointed some progressives. Due to her broad support from our partners and the lacking representation from women of color in the Legislature, we lean toward Stonier in this race.

As a result, many working families, seniors, and young people are struggling to keep a roof over their head. Many are forced to live far away from where they work - making traffic worse - or leave Seattle altogether just to afford their rent. We must do better.

    Seattle's Proposition 1 is $290 million replacement and expansion of the existing affordable housing levy that would cost the average homeowner $122 per year. This critically important proposition would build 2,150 new affordable apartments and provide emergency rental help for 4,500 families on the brink of being homeless. Vote YES on Proposition 1 to ensure Seattle remains a place where working people, seniors, and young people can afford to live!
