Clallam Superior Court Judge Brian Coughenour was appointed by Governor Jay Inslee in June of 2015. He has more than 39 years of legal experience as both a lawyer and a judge. Previously, Coughenour served as Clallam County’s Superior Court Commissioner for 15 years, and as a Chief Judge for the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe for 15 years. Coughenour has shown commitment to working with First Nations people, including raising funds for indigent legal services and his work developing the Lower Elwha Healing Court.
His opponent, District Pro-Tem Judge Dave Neupert, is also qualified, but we lean toward Coughenour due to his work with underserved communities.
