Incumbent Republican Senator Frank Ruff has voted against immigrant communities at every opportunity and has an anti-choice record. He also opposes commonsense gun violence prevention measures. He voted against raising the minimum wage. He vocally opposed Medicaid expansion in Virginia and drew vocal condemnation for racist remarks about the proposal in 2014. In the 2023 General Assembly, he co-patroned anti-trans legislation that would impact trans athletes. He also co-patroned several bills that would make voting less accessible.

Because Senator Ruff is running unopposed, there is no recommendation in this race. We encourage you to show up and vote by writing in a candidate. Remember, there are other races in this year’s elections.

Incumbent Republican Danny Marshall has served in the 14th district since 2002. He supported anti-trans legislation that restricts children’s participation in sports to their assigned gender, and he supported a bill which requires schools to out trans children to their parents. He also does not support gun violence prevention legislation. There are no progressive candidates in this race. We encourage you to write in a candidate of your choice.
