    Mady Rodriguez

  • Mady Rodriguez has lived in Winchester for over 35 years, and she attended Winchester Public Schools. She received her Master’s degree at Walden University, and she is currently a member of the Winchester City Council, representing Ward 4. She also worked as a discharge planner for Valley Health for over 18 years. Rodriguez has always been passionate about speaking up for her community, and she wants to bring her experience and active involvement in the community to her role as a Delegate for District 32.

Rodriguez believes in equal access to education, and she supports legislation that will create pathways to higher education, such as vocational and trade schools. She also wants to implement universal Pre-K with the intention of “leveling the playing field”, so that students can have equal access to opportunities. She wants to bring liveable wages and individual economic stability to the people of Virginia. She also supports equal access to healthcare, and environmental protection, including investment in energy, which includes limiting the use of fossil fuels.

Rodruguez believes that citizens deserve safe environments that are free from gun violence, and that the best way to ensure this for community members is to promote responsible gun ownership. She supports the second amendment, but she believes that guns must be limited to authorized, responsible users in order to prevent school shootings and other acts of violence.

Republican Delegate Bill Wiley was elected in 2020. Prior to his election as Delegate, he served on the Winchester City Council since 2014. He was voted Vice-President of the Council in 2015 and 2018. Wiley is anti-abortion, and he has voted to defund of Planned Parenthood. He also votes against gun violence prevention measures and would support more funding for police without additional accountability.

Mady Rodriguez is the most progressive choice for this role, as she supports fair education, economic equality, gun sense legislation, and environmental justice.
