Tony DeLoreto is the Democratic candidate for the Pennsylvania State Senate in District 41. DeLoreto is a U.S. Navy veteran who started his own small business. He is also an active volunteer in his community.
DeLoreto’s platform is progressive. In office, DeLoreto plans to improve public education through increased state funding and less dependence on property taxes. He will combat the opioid crisis by creating access to affordable healthcare and restructuring the justice system to provide support for people facing addiction. Another priority of DeLoreto’s is upgrading infrastructure in the district to make it more appealing to employers considering bringing their businesses to the area.
DeLoreto is challenging Republican incumbent Joe Pittman. Pittman originally ran on the issue of improved infrastructure; however, during his first term in office, he introduced legislation to cut off funding for transportation improvement. Pittman also voted to defund poorer school districts in favor of wealthier districts and charter schools. Additionally, Pittman’s record demonstrates hostility to conserving Pennsylvania’s environment. He introduced a bill that would impede the passage of a carbon tax, a key tool in reducing pollution. In the middle of a pandemic, Joe Pittman joined Republicans in their near unanimous vote against providing protective gear, testing, hazard pay, family leave, and preserving disaster declarations put in place to protect Pennsylvanians.
Tony DeLoreto is the clear progressive choice in this race.Tony DeLoreto
