Mike Schlossberg is the Democratic candidate for the Pennsylvania State House in the 132nd legislative district. Schlossberg’s background is in technology and public relations. Schlossberg was also the youngest person to be elected to the Allentown City Council. He eventually became vice president of that body as well as vice president of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.
In 2015, Schlossberg decided to speak publicly about his struggles with depression and anxiety to increase mental health awareness. He worked with Congressperson Susan Wild to enact federal mental health legislation and sponsored a state bill to increase suicide prevention resources. In 2017, Schlossberg cosponsored a bill that expunges criminal records to reduce discrimination against formerly incarcerated citizens. More recently, Schlossberg has sponsored legislation to require background checks for potential police officers as part of the civil rights movement to fight racism and police violence. During the pandemic, Mike Schlossberg voted to provide protective gear, testing, hazard pay, family leave, and preserve disaster declarations put in place to protect Pennsylvanians, even as Republicans almost unanimously voted against all of these measures.
