SD15 has been identified as a key swing district. Democrats must win this seat to flip the State Senate and make progress for working families in Pennsylvania.
George Scott is running for the State Senate seat in Pennsylvania’s 15th district. He was raised on a family farm in south-central Pennsylvania. He is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army and has a decorated military career that spans more than two decades.
George Scott has dedicated himself to a life of service and living his progressive values. After his military career, he returned to Pennsylvania to earn a master’s degree in divinity and became a pastor in Liverpool. He is an outspoken advocate for racial and LGBTQ+ justice. When he is not working on food drives to help those hardest hit by the pandemic, he spends his time putting up solar panels on government buildings.
George Scott narrowly lost a campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives coming short less than 8,000 votes out of almost 300,000 votes cast. In that race, Scott introduced himself to voters with a progressive platform of expanding funding for education, preserving and expanding health care coverage, and protecting disadvantaged groups of people from discrimination. In 2020, George Scott also added electoral fairness to his priorities, advocating for caps and transparency for campaign contributions, term limits, and same-day registration.
George Scott’s opponent is John DiSanto, a Republican incumbent who has held the seat since 2016. DiSanto’s voting record demonstrates a disregard for the health and safety of his constituents. In 2017, he voted to eliminate aid for Pennsylvanians living poverty. In 2019, he voted to bring more guns into Pennsylvania schools. Later that year, he voted to take away Medicare from his neighbors who were too sick to work. In the middle of a pandemic, DiSanto joined Republicans in their near unanimous vote against providing protective gear, testing, hazard pay, family leave, and preserving disaster declarations put in place to protect Pennsylvanians.
George Scott is the clear progressive choice in this race.George Scott
