Yousef Rabhi is an incumbent running for his third term to the Michigan House of Representatives in the 53rd District. Currently, Rabhi serves as the Democratic Floor Leader in the House and sits on the Government Operations Committee. Before being elected to the House, Rabhi served as a Washtenaw County Commissioner for six years, including leading the commission as Chair where he helped balance the budget and created programs like the Washtenaw Dental Clinic that helps those who are uninsured access dental care.
Rabhi’s priorities while in office include ensuring transparency and accountability in government, fighting the climate crisis, supporting renewable energy resources, and standing behind initiatives to secure environmental justice for disproportionately affected Michiganders. Yousef also wants to secure rights for workers by repealing Right-To-Work laws, fight for our teachers and students by fully funding our public schools and ending the diversion of public funds to for-profit charter schools, and embrace equity for all Michiganders - particularly women, the LGBTQ+ community, and people of color.
Rabhi is endorsed by eight of our partner organizations including Michigan Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, Michigan AFL-CIO, Clean Water Action, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, and Between the Lines.
Rabhi is running against Jean Holland. While we didn't see endorsements for Holland from organizations that concern us, they also don't have the support of any of our partner organizations and therefore we cannot recommend them.
Rabhi is the most progressive choice in this race.

Joe Biden
Joseph R. Biden, Jr. is the Democratic candidate for President of the United States. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden has a long career in public service, most notably serving as Vice President alongside President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2016.
Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack and Elizabeth Welch are our recommendations for the Michigan Supreme Court. Both candidates will protect our civil rights while ensuring justice for all.
The Michigan Supreme Court race appears on the non-partisan section of the ballot, but McCormack and Welch were nominated by the Michigan Democratic Party. Be sure to turn your ballot over and do not leave this important race blank.
