HD142 has been identified as a key swing district. Democrats must win this seat to flip the State House and make progress for working families in Pennsylvania.
Lauren Lareau is the Democratic candidate for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives seat in the 142nd legislative district. Lareau is a former cancer information specialist for the National Cancer Institute and now owns a small tutoring company.
Laureu’s platform is progressive. She is in favor of demilitarizing the police and ending qualified immunity, which allows police to avoid accountability for misconduct. Laureu is also in favor of expanding Medicare and Medicaid. She supports a moratorium on new fracking wells and plans to implement a shale tax, which will be used to invest in renewable energy.
Lauren Lareau is facing Republican incumbent Frank Farry. He’s held the seat since 2009. Farry voted to reinstate mandatory minimum sentences, contributing to mass incarceration. He also voted against environmental protections multiple times, including a vote against the implementation of a natural gas severance tax. In the middle of a pandemic, Frank Farry joined Republicans in their near unanimous vote against providing protective gear, testing, hazard pay, family leave, and preserving disaster declarations put in place to protect Pennsylvanians.
Lauren Lareau is the clear progressive choice in this race.Lauren Lareau
