HD29 has been identified as a key swing district. Democrats must win this seat to flip the State House and make progress for working families in Pennsylvania.
Marlene Katz is the Democratic candidate running for the Pennsylvania State House seat in the 29th legislative district. Prior to her run, Katz worked in the wellness industry. She is a political newcomer, and an outspoken progressive.
Katz’s platform is progressive, too. She supports sensible regulations of firearms, environmental protections, infrastructure investments, combating the opioid epidemic, and protecting reproductive rights. It is no surprise that Katz has received endorsements from several big progressive organizations, including EveryTown for Gun Safety, the National Organization of Women, and Emily’s List.
Katz is challenging Republican incumbent Meghan Schroeder. She has held the seat since 2018. Schroeder voted twice to restrict reproductive rights in 2019. She also voted to eliminate the general assistance program, the largest anti-poverty program in the state. In the middle of a pandemic, Schroeder joined Republicans in their near unanimous vote against providing protective gear, testing, hazard pay, family leave, and preserving disaster declarations put in place to protect Pennsylvanians.
Marlene Katz is the clear progressive choice in this race.Marlene Katz
