HD9 has been identified as a key swing district. Democrats must keep this seat to flip the State House and make progress for working families in Pennsylvania.
Chris Sainato is the Democratic candidate for the Pennsylvania State House seat in the 9th legislative district. He has lived in New Castle all his life. Sainato earned his B.S. in Educational Social Services from Youngstown State University in 1982. Prior to being elected to public office, Sainato worked as an aide for United States Congressman Joe Kolter from 1983 to 1993.
Sainato has advocated for working families and the environment for many years. In 2007, he voted to promote the use of alternative energy sources. In 2015, he voted to protect worker’s rights to collective bargaining. During the pandemic, Sainato voted to provide protective gear, testing, hazard pay, family leave, and preserve disaster declarations put in place to protect Pennsylvanians, even as Republicans almost unanimously voted against all of these measures.
Sainato is facing Republican Lynne Ryan in the 2020 general election. Ryan was featured in the New York Times in 2016 when she and her son painted the word “TRUMP” spanning 450 feet of her family’s farm. Lynne Ryan has not publicly released any policy stances, despite the fact that Pennsylvanians are in need of leadership while dealing with both a health crisis and economic crisis.
Chris Sainato is the clear progressive choice in this race.Chris Sainato
