Matt Koleszar is an incumbent Democrat running for re-election to the Michigan House of Representatives in the 22nd District; he is currently the Democratic Caucus whip, and vice chair of the Elections and Ethics committee. Matt is a graduate of Saginaw Valley State University and obtained his Master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University while working as a social studies teacher at Airport Community School District for 12 years.
Koleszar’s priorities in the legislature include strengthening Michigan education, finding effective solutions to fix the roads, and increasing access to quality health care in Michigan. He is fighting to properly fund public schools and support small community businesses, and wants to work to protect the environment by fighting for his constituents affected by the Arbor Hills Landfill.
Koleszar is endorsed by seven of our partners: Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, Michigan AFL-CIO, American Federation of Teachers Michigan, Sierra Club Michigan Chapter, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Michigan Education Association, and Equality Michigan.
Matt Koleszar is running against Republican Cathryn Neracher. Neracher holds views on education rooted in right-wing disinformation and is anti-reproductive rights. She is also endorsed by the anti-choice organization Right to Life of Michigan.
Matt Koleszar is the most progressive choice in this race.
