Julie Brixie is an incumbent Democrat running for her third term in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 73rd District. Before serving as a representative, Brixie served on the Meridian Township Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning and was elected to the Meridian Township Board where she served for 18 years.
Brixie’s priorities include protecting our Great Lakes and shutting down Line 5, fully funding our public schools and making college more affordable, and fighting to make sure that common sense gun laws pass in Michigan. Brixie is also passionate about making sure that marginalized communities are recognized and safe, and securing a Medicare for All system in Michigan to make sure everyone has access to safe, affordable, and comprehensive health care.
Brixie is endorsed by seven of our partners: Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, Michigan AFL-CIO, American Federation of Teachers Michigan, Sierra Club Michigan Chapter, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Michigan Education Association, and Equality Michigan.
Brixie is running against Republican Norm Shinkle, who sought to not certify the 2020 election as a member of the Board of State Canvassers. He is endorsed by the anti-choice organization Right to Life Michigan and the DeVos-backed Michigan Freedom Network.
Julie Brixie is the most progressive choice in this race.
