Terry Sabo is an incumbent running for his third term in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 92nd District. Sabo was elected in 2010 to be the Muskegon County Road Commissioner, and in 2012 was elected to the Muskegon County Board of Commissioners. He was selected by his colleagues to be the Chairman of the Muskegon County Board of Commissioner twice, in 2015 and 2016. Sabo currently serves on the House Appropriations Committee, is the Democratic vice chair of the General Government Sub-Committee, and is on the Agriculture and Rural Development and Corrections Sub-Committees. He was also appointed to the Select Committee to Reduce Auto Insurance Rates and the House I.T. Task Force.
Sabo’s priorities include restoring and maintaining revenue sharing to local governments, fixing local infrastructure to strengthen the local economy, and securing services and resources to local veterans. Sabo’s also focused on promoting environmental sustainability by banning fracking and reducing the state’s reliance on plastic, eliminating systemic structural inequities that hold back people of color, and fighting for paid parental leave.
Sabo is endorsed by six of our partner organizations including the Michigan Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, Michigan AFL-CIO, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, and Between the Lines.
Sabo faces right-wing Republican Michael Haueisen. While we didn't see endorsements for this candidate from organizations that concern us, they also don't have the support of any of our partner organizations and therefore we cannot recommend them.
Sabo is the progressive choice in this race.

Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack and Elizabeth Welch are our recommendations for the Michigan Supreme Court. Both candidates will protect our civil rights while ensuring justice for all.
The Michigan Supreme Court race appears on the non-partisan section of the ballot, but McCormack and Welch were nominated by the Michigan Democratic Party. Be sure to turn your ballot over and do not leave this important race blank.
