Representative Jon Hoadley was first elected in the Michigan House of Representatives in 2014 and is now seeking to flip the 6th Congressional District in Michigan that’s been held by Republican Fred Upton since 1987.
Rep. Hoadley is a champion for health care, the environment, and civil rights. Throughout his time as a state representative he has introduced legislation to make healthcare more accessible, restrict the use of toxic chemicals like PFAS that would damage ecosystems, as well as bills to protect the LGBTQ+ community in Michigan.
Rep. Hoadley’s three key issues going into the Congressional race are finding solutions for affordable health care, battling the climate crisis, and taking big money out of politics.
Hoadley is endorsed by seven of our partner organizations including Michigan Education Association, the AAmerican Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations, the American Federation of Teachers, Clean Water Action, and the Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigans, and Between the Lines.
Hoadley is challenging incumbent Republican Congressman Fred Upton. Upton is vehemently against universal healthcare and the Affordable Care Act, against reproductive healthcare and abortion, and most recently voted against HR-7301 that would have protected Americans from being evicted or having their house foreclosed on due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Upton has previously been on record saying carbon emissions on Earth are not an issue, and wants the EPA to roll back environmental regulations. The Los Angeles Times even claimed that Upton "Represents one of the biggest threats to planet Earth on planet Earth,” because of his stance on the climate crisis.
Hoadley is the most progressive candidate in this race.
