Jim Ellison is an incumbent running for his third term in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 26th District. He currently sits on the Health Policy Committee, Local Government and Municipal Finance Committee where he serves as Minority Vice Chair, and the Tax Policy Committee.
Ellison’s voting record and bill co-sponsorships tell us that he’s fighting against the contamination of PFAS in our water and imposing fees on companies who violate guidelines when renovating or demolishing anything that may pollute the air or emit asbestos. He also supports creating more mental health services and resources universally across the state and fully funding our schools.
Ellison is endorsed by eight of our partner organizations including Michigan Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, Michigan AFL-CIO, Clean Water Action, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, and Between the Lines.
Ellison is running against Chris Meister. While we didn't see endorsements for Meister from organizations that concern us, they also don't have the support of any of our partner organizations and therefore we cannot recommend them.
Ellison is the most progressive choice in this race.

Joe Biden
Joseph R. Biden, Jr. is the Democratic candidate for President of the United States. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden has a long career in public service, most notably serving as Vice President alongside President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2016.
Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack and Elizabeth Welch are our recommendations for the Michigan Supreme Court. Both candidates will protect our civil rights while ensuring justice for all.
The Michigan Supreme Court race appears on the non-partisan section of the ballot, but McCormack and Welch were nominated by the Michigan Democratic Party. Be sure to turn your ballot over and do not leave this important race blank.
