School Board
Depending on where you live, you may have the following school district races on your ballot.
Garfield School District Re-2, District A
Darlane Evans is running for the Garfield Re-2 School Board in District A. Previously a teacher in Garfield Re-2, Evans has also worked for the State of Colorado and with the Board of Cooperative (Educational) Services to help provide educational resources and opportunities for all learners. She will focus on supporting teachers financially, creating safe and inclusive schools, and managing a responsible budget. As an advocate for student led learning and adaptive education, Evans is ready to help support the new Re-2 full time online program. Evans is a passionate leader in public education and hopes to guarantee stability and success for Garfield Re-2.

He is involved with his child’s PTA as well as the District Accountability Committee. Beaulieu hopes to use his personal, professional, and educational experiences to tackle funding challenges in Re-2 and the strategic funding plan. Beaulieu will work to better per pupil funding and teacher salaries in order to improve staff and student outcomes. As a mechanical engineer and fabricator, Beaulieu also hopes to create a path to more vibrant trade and STEM programs in Re-2’s future.

Kathryn Kuhlberg is running for reelection to the Roaring Fork School Board in District E. Kuhlberg is an early childhood educator with undergraduate degrees in education, policy, and law– giving her an ideal skillset for the challenges of serving on the Board of Education. She is looking forward to continuing her work in finding solutions to per pupil funding and decreasing class sizes in RFSD. Kuhlberg is dedicated to creating intentional and innovative plans with regard to supporting students, staff, and families. She hopes to better involve the community in decision making and financial planning.
Also running is Elizabeth Cockrill Taylor, a supporter of “parental rights” and critic of gender and sexuality resources in classrooms. Cockrill Taylor has also expressed doubt in the qualifications of Hispanic staff members.

Statewide Ballot Measures
Proposition LL asks if the state should be allowed to keep and spend the revenue collected from Proposition FF. Prop FF established the Healthy School Meals for All Program and has accrued $12.4 million in revenue since its original voter approval in 2022. The Healthy School Meals for All Program is funded through state income taxes and supports free school meals for all students, regardless of family income. Due to the Tax Payers Bill of Rights, the state of Colorado must ask for approval in order to keep and spend tax revenue that has already been collected. If voters do not approve LL, households that paid the state income tax will have the tax revenue reimbursed to them. With the additional funds from LL, the Healthy School Meals for All Program would be able to further support the purchasing and use of Colorado grown products, increase wages for cafeteria employees, and offer training and technical assistance to schools.
Food is necessary for growing and learning brains. For any number of reasons, many children do not have access to quality nutrition. Free and nutritious meals can help support students from all economic and social backgrounds in becoming empowered learners and leaders.

Within the area of concern, only 44% of kids younger than five have access to a licensed childcare facility. Additionally, parents are often paying nearly $17,000 per year for one child’s tuition, making it some family's biggest financial burden. 7A will facilitate tuition credits for families and grants for childcare programs and educators. 7A will function as a .25% sales and use tax in Garfield, Pitkin, and SW Eagle Counties starting in 2026.
Due to the regional nature of the issue, 7A is a cross county measure that proposes to create a service district, similar to a fire or transportation district. This will allow funding to flow to communities most in need without getting tied up in county lines.
The measure was developed by parents, educators, advocates, and bi-partisan leaders to better serve families from Parachute to Aspen.
